Meet the writers, makers, and artists from this month’s issue.

Aby Atiola

Aby is happiest when crafting, writing, recycling, or upcycling! Her favorite phrase when out clothes shopping is “I could make that.” And she does try. You can find her many musings over at

Claire Sitarz

Claire is a jack-of-all-trades maker who is always interested in learning new things. Though sewing is her first love, you might also find her knitting, natural dyeing, making ceramic art, or stained glass in her basement studio.

Farrah Dodson

As the Graphic Designer here at Seamwork HQ, Farrah helps us capture the magic of sewing through graphic design, creating our brand identity and making sure that each issue of Seamwork looks perfect.

Haley Glenn

Haley doesn’t just want to design clothing you’ll love to wear, but clothing you’ll love to sew. With a background in both design and teaching, she combines her talents to imagine patterns with thoughtful details that build your skills as you sew.

Lia Rose

After receiving her BFA in classical watercolor painting, Lia Rose has since branched out into other mediums. Time spent researching heritage has revealed a disconnect between the world of fine art and the West African, Eastern European, and Indigenous North American ancestral traditions of making. Seeking connection between ancestors and identity has resulted in learning to weave, sew, quilt, and construct, honoring and utilizing skills of necessity in the process of making art objects and bringing art into the making of everyday utility. Find her on Instagram @liarosestudio

Lori Caldwell

Lori Caldwell is the former owner/founder of leather goods company, Minnie + George, based in Portland, OR, and an avid maker, sewer, and Seamwork subscriber.

Meg Stively

Meg is here to help you get excited about sewing. As the managing editor for Seamwork and the smiling face behind emails and social media, she loves seeing what you’re making with our patterns.

Michael Gardner

Michael Gardner is a proud Father, self-taught sewist, life-long crafter, and DIY enthusiast. He’s also known as “Ava’s Dad.” He works in finance for his 9 to 5 and can usually be found exercising his creative abilities any other time. He began his sewing journey six years ago. He wanted a way to bond with his daughter while looking for a new creative challenge, so he created Daddy Dressed Me by Michael Gardner. His mission is to help Ava build her self-esteem and establish confidence in herself and her abilities. Follow Michael on Instagram @daddydressedmebymg.

Mireille Stahle

Mireille is a craft fanatic with creative whims that extend to sewing, knitting, weaving, and soft sculpture. Most of the time, however, she works in marketing and communications in Melbourne, Australia. Pictures of Mireille’s projects and her cat, Manny Possum, can be found on Instagram @mireilleosunshine

Thao Thai

Thao is a writer and designer living in Columbus, Ohio, with her husband and young daughter. She loves French fries and naps, and doesn’t quite understand why neither can be counted as hobbies. You can find more of her work at
