Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

A-line Skirt

The Arbor Skirt is a timeless full A-line design that combines vintage charm with everyday ease. Fitted at the natural waist, it features center front and back seams for a flattering silhouette. In-seam pockets are anchored at the waist for a smooth, functional finish, while a bound waistband adds a polished, skill-building detail. Finished with a classic double fold hem, Arbor is endlessly wearable and pairs beautifully with everything from tucked-in tees to blouses.

Fabric & Supplies

Lightweight to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, denim, corduroy, twill, chambray, suiting, rayon challis, rayon crepe, cupro, silk, and Tencel.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, 9” invisible zipper 1 1/2 yards of 1/2” double fold bias tape, one hook and eye, sewing machine needle, and an invisible zipper foot.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Janiah is wearing the Arbor skirt in a size 2 from our 00-18 size range with no adjustments. Her measurements are bust: 32 1/2" (114 cm), waist: 27 1/2" (94 cm), hip: 39" (127 cm), and she is 5'7" (170.25 cm) tall.

Crosby is wearing the Arbor skirt in a size 16 from our 12-30 size range with no adjustments. Her measurements are bust: 45" (114 cm), waist: 37" (94 cm), hip: 50" (127 cm), and she is 5'10" (177.8 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
