Lesson 1: Welcome!

Meet Cal! You’ll want to wear this pajama set every night—or even for lounging during the day. The Cal set includes a racer-back tank top and semi-fitted boxer shorts. The tank has a scoop neckline, a placket for snaps or buttons, and a curved hem. The shorts have a faux fly.

In this class you’ll learn:

  • How to pick the right fabric

  • How to sew a knit henley placket

  • How to sew the neck and armbands

  • Plus, each step from the instructions in action

Don’t miss the member bonus variation if you want to create a petal, wrap-style short.

Hi everyone! I’m Sienna the content producer here at Seamwork. Each month in the Seamwork Classroom, we have a sewalong class and this month, we’re sewing up the Cal pajama set. Let’s take a look at this pattern and talk about all the cool skills you’ll pick up when you’re done with this class.

The Cal pajama set features a racer back tank with a relaxed fit and semi-fitted boxer shorts. The tank features a scoop neckline with a button or snap placket, ½” neck and armhole bands, and a curved hem. The shorts feature an elastic waistband, faux-fly, and ⅜” single fold hem. This pajama set is so much fun! Sew a set in matching fabric, or make multiple sets to mix and match for the ultimate loungewear collection.

In this class, we’ll sew each step including the tricky parts like the: button placket, the neck and armhole bands, and the waistband elastic casing.

The best thing about this class is you’re not in it alone! You can connect with other sewists in the Seamwork community to chat about choosing fabric, selecting a size, and sewing up your Cal pajama set. It’s a great place to ask questions and cheer each other on!

In lesson 2, I’m going to pass things over to Haley who designed the pattern. She’ll talk about what fabrics will work well for Cal and she’ll share the fabrics she chose for the photo samples.

Let’s get started!
