Where to get fabric, supplies, and recommended additional reading for this issue.

February 28, 2015

Supplies

Girl Charlee: This online fabric shop has an unusually vast selection of knits, many of which could be used to make the Aberdeen top.

Fabric.com: This online retailer is the resource for the forest green rayon knit seen on Aberdeen in this issue.

Denver Fabrics: Our source for the rose pink cotton jersey featured on Aberdeen this month.

Harts Fabric: A good selection of both knits and wovens, such as the lattice-print sateen featured on Osaka.

Books

The Fleece to Fiber Sourcebook: A visual encyclopedia of animal-based fibers, packed with information and research on the qualities of yarn and fabric from a wide variety of species and breeds.

More Fabric Savvy: Sandra Betzina's easy-to-use guide to sewing a variety of fabric types.

Sewing Materials: A vintage book from The Woman's Institute Library of Dressmaking that covers a variety of fiber types and fabrics used in dressmaking. Though some names are outdated and some fabrics now difficult to find, it is a detailed resource on classic fabrics used in apparel.

Easy Guide to Sewing Linings: Though out of print, this brief and specialized book can help you learn to make reversible linings, as well as more traditional variations.

Classes

Bag-Making Basics: Reversible Tote and Zipper Pouch: A free online class that provides a simple introduction to reversible techniques.
