Meet the writers, makers, and artists from this month’s issue.

Writers

Christi Johnson

Christi Johnson is a textile artist who combines cosmic visions expressed through embroidery with natural dyes, creating a hypnotic dance of symbols stitched slowly and methodically into botanically infused fibers. She works from the belief that through creating with textiles, our most intimate of personal belongings, we recognize our powers of transformation in all areas of life. Visit Christi at Mixed Color.

Erica Schmitz

Erica Schmitz is the Founder of MyBodyModel, a website that makes body-positive fashion templates based on your measurements. Originally from Costa Rica, Erica is still a winter novice even though she’s lived in northern New England for most of her adult life. Through MyBodyModel, Erica is committed to increasing visibility and appreciation of our wonderful diversity of body shapes. She wants to help everyone have more fun and confidence in dressing our bodies in a way that expresses our own uniqueness and personal style – rather than outdated notions of what our bodies “should” look like. Erica lives in Portland, Maine with her husband, teenage daughter, and their very fluffy, winter-loving rescue dog.

Farrah Dodson

As the Graphic Designer here at Seamwork HQ, Farrah helps us capture the magic of sewing through graphic design, creating our brand identity and making sure that each issue of Seamwork looks perfect.

Haley Glenn

Haley doesn’t just want to design clothing you’ll love to wear, but clothing you’ll love to sew. With a background in both design and teaching, she combines her talents to imagine patterns with thoughtful details that build your skills as you sew.

Meg Stively

Meg is here to help you get excited about sewing. As the managing editor for Seamwork and the smiling face behind emails and social media, she loves seeing what you’re making with our patterns.

Monisola Omotoso

Moni has loved fashion since she was a child. After three decades of working in the fashion industry as a designer, pattern cutter, and lecturer, she started Pattern Cutting Deconstructed to slow things down and share her creative knowledge and experience with a different audience. Now she aims to make pattern cutting approachable for all skill levels to design any pattern they can imagine. Visit her on her website and watch more speedy pattern cutting videos on her Instagram.

Vanessa A Nirode

Vanessa is a NYC based writer, tailor and pattern maker. Some of her written work can be seen at HuffPost, BBC Travel, PopSci, Vulture, Threads, and many others. Some of her patterning work can be seen in Boardwalk Empire, Power, Blindspot, Modern Love, Dangerous Book for Boys, and many others. Follow her on instgram at @setgirlz.
