Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

    Boxy Lined Jacket

    The Rhoda Jacket is a boxy, lined jacket designed to feel both intentional and easy to wear. With a straight cut and a high, round neckline, Rhoda has a clean, modern shape that works just as well layered over everyday basics as it does dressed up.

    Subtle details give the jacket its character, from the softly rounded corners at the neckline and hem to the slightly cropped length that hits at the high hip. The boxy silhouette is balanced by full-length, two-piece sleeves, giving Rhoda just enough structure while still feeling relaxed. A simple three-button closure at the center front keeps the look clean and unfussy.

    Rhoda is fully lined, creating a polished interior and a satisfying sewing experience. You can choose between hand-attached pockets for a nearly invisible finish, or edgestitched patch pockets for a more utilitarian look.

    Medium to heavy weight fabrics such as tweed, boiled wool, boucle, suitings, coatings, denim, twill, quilted fabrics, brocades, and velvet.

    Lightweight woven linings such as cotton lawn, acetate, rayon, or silk.

    All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, hand-sewing needle, three 1” (25 mm) buttons, 1 1/4 yards (1.2 meters) woven fusible interfacing, and two shoulder pads.

  • Sizing & Fit

    Ilisa is wearing a size 2 Rhoda jacket. We added 1 1/4" to the body length and added 1 3/4" to the sleeve length. Her measurements are bust: 34" (86.4 cm), waist: 25 1/2" (64.8 cm), hip 38" (96.5 cm), and she is 5'9" (175.3 cm) tall.

    Iman is wearing the Rhoda jacket in a size 14 from our 12-30 size range. We reduced the shoulder width 1/2" and added 1/2" to the sleeve length. Her measurements are bust: 43" (109.2 cm), waist: 35" (88.9 cm), hip: 46" (116.8 cm), and she is 5'9 1/2" (176.5 cm) tall.

    00 – 30

    Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
