Find Your Sewing Affirmations

What do you do when sewing frustrates you? How do you handle stress, failure, and the occasional hit to your self-esteem that comes with creating? In this episode, we'll share a tool that can help you be kinder to yourself and stay motivated to make.

Does sewing ever get you down? We all experience the occasional moment of failure, when things don’t turn out quite as expected. Other times, it’s hard to keep in mind why we sew at all. Let’s face it, sewing can be hard.

In this episode, we’ll share a tool you can use at any time to support yourself through demotivating moments. It’s something we’re calling “sewing affirmations”: phrases and words you can use at any time to remind yourself of the good when things seem bad.

We talk about what an affirmation is and how they work, some of the sayings and affirmations Seamworkers have told us they use, and share five tips for developing and using your own affirmations while you sew. We’ll also touch on why it’s a good idea to be kind to yourself, and how we personally approach the challenge of remembering to be compassionate.
