Hi everyone! I’m Sienna the content producer here at Seamwork. Each month in the Seamwork Classroom, we have a new sewalong class and this month, we’re sewing up the Madhu top. Let’s take a look at this pattern and talk about all the cool skills you’ll pick up when you’re done with this class.
The Madhu top is a cropped raglan with an elastic finish at the neckline, sleeve, and hem. It features a scoop neckline, short raglan sleeves, a neckline facing, and elastic casings set 1/2” away from the neckline and sleeve hem and 1” away from the body hem. If a crop top isn’t your style, be sure to check out the pattern hack where Haley shows you how to add a gathered skirt.
In this class, we’ll help you choose fabric, gather supplies, and sew each step, including some tips for inserting elastic.
The best thing about this class is you’re not in it alone! You can connect with other sewists in the Seamwork community to chat about choosing fabric, selecting a size, and sewing up your Madhu top. It’s a great place to ask questions and cheer each other on!
In lesson 2, I’m going to pass things over to Haley who designed the pattern. She’ll talk about what fabrics will work well for Madhu and she’ll share the fabrics she chose for the photo samples.
Let’s get started!
