Hey everyone, I’m Haley, the pattern designer here at Seamwork and welcome to the Ani trousers class. I am so glad you are joining us as we sew this pattern together. I know that at first glance, a project like Ani can seem overwhelming, but I would like to invite you to pivot your mindset. Instead of focusing on what might be hard about this pattern, think about all of the knowledge you will gain through this project. I promise I will break everything down into easy to understand steps so you will feel your confidence building with each and every stitch.
Let’s take a look at the pattern and talk about all the cool skills that you’ll learn. The Ani trousers feature a tapered fit with front pleats, a zipper fly with a hook and bar closure, slash pockets, a contoured waistband, belt loops and single welt pockets at the back.
In this sewalong class, we’ll help you select your fabric, gather your supplies and helpful tools, and of course, sew each step, including all of the tricky parts, like the zipper fly, welt pockets, and the waistband.
The best thing about this class is you are never in it alone. You can connect with other sewists in the Seamwork community and chat about choosing fabrics, selecting a size and sewing up your Ani trousers. It is a great place to ask questions and of course, cheer each other on.
In the next lesson, I’ll cover what fabrics and notions to shop for.
