Hi everyone! And welcome to the Audrey jacket class! I’m Haley, the pattern designer here at Seamwork. I’ll be your instructor as we work our way through this project together.
Audrey is one of those patterns that feels really intimidating, but don’t be thrown by all the piecing and details, this project is actually super manageable when broken up into little pieces. At the end of this class you will have created something super impressive that you can show off to all your sewing pals, and you will learn some really great techniques along the way.
We created our classes to work for everyone, whether you are a little newer to sewing or are more experienced. We have also designed the whole class experience around your busy schedules. Everything is broken up into manageable lessons which you can see in the tabs to the side of the video player. This means you can watch it all, or skip to the trickier steps. So that no matter your skill level or schedule, you can make a killer denim jacket with us. Also check out the tabs below to see the chapter overview, audio transcript, and a materials list.
The Audrey pattern is a super classic denim jacket. It features a paneled design, faux flap pockets, functional welt pockets, collar, cuffs, waistband, and of course jeans buttons-also referred to as tack buttons. Audrey utilizes faux flat-felled seams to create a classic denimwear look without the challenging bulk of a traditional flat felled seams, which can be a little trickier for some home machines to handle.
In this class, I will walk you through creating an Audrey jacket from start to finish. I’ll cover:
Choosing a size and sewing a muslin
Some basic fit adjustments
Cutting and marking
Plus all the sewing, including the tricky steps like sleeves, collar and installing tack buttons.
Feel free to skip ahead where needed or rewatch steps as needed. And when you are done, hop on over to the Seamwork community to share your Audrey jacket. Let’s get started by talking about fabrics and supplies!
