Sew the Micah Dress

If you have a few yards of a fabric that you want to show off, meet Micah. This breezy, maxi-length dress has a deep v-neckline, seams at the center front and back, and a faced split hem. The easy silhouette is ideal for showing off prints, textures, and breezy fabrics.

Sienna: In stripes

Sienna sewed the Micah dress in Essex Yarn Dyed Linen from Hawthorn Threads. She made size 4 shortened by 4" with the neckline raised 1 1/2". Her measurements are 36", 28", 38" and she is 5'2".

Sarai: In wide checkered linen

Sarai sewed the member bonus version of the Micah dress in a Belluci Linen and Tencel blend from Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics. The member bonus adds a modesty panel to the V-neckline. She made size 6 and her measurements are 37", 27 1/2", 39" and she is 5'4".

Fabric & Fit

Fabrics to shop: Micah requires a fair amount of fabric, so you want to pick something lightweight. Look for wovens like batiste, lawn, voile, linen, rayon challis, cupro, lyocell, and silk.

Fabrics to avoid: Heavy wovens will be too restrictive for this dress, so avoid denim-weight fabrics. If you want the dress to drape nicely on your body, avoid quilting cotton.
