Sew the Sawyer Skirt

Sawyer is a midi-length skirt that’s really fun to sew, and it pairs so well with your favorite tee, blouse, or camisole. Its A-line silhouette features shaped panels at the sides and a button placket up the center front.









Maya is wearing a size 2 Sawyer skirt lengthened by 2 1/4”. Her measurements are 33 1/2”, 26”, 37” and she is 5’10”. Fabric is Robert Kaufman Santa Barbara Chambray from Bolt.












The member bonus pattern for the Sawyer skirt omits the button closure and adds an invisible zipper at the side. Fabric is Cream Flowers on Forest Green Rayon from Bolt.









Fabric & Fit

Fabrics to shop: Sew the Sawyer skirt in light or medium-weight wovens such as chambray, linen, twill, denim, flannel, rayon, Tencel, and cupro.

Notions: For the buttons, you can go vintage, match them to your fabric, or add a pop of contrast.

Fabrics to avoid: To get the intended silhouette, use a fabric that has some drape and body, to support the panels and buttons. Quilting cottons will not drape well enough for this skirt.

Fit: This skirt is fitted at the waist, with comfortable ease through the hips, and a stylish A-line silhouette.
