Introducing the Wynn Tie-front Crop and Leighanne Dress!

Fabric ideas, fitting details, and tips for sewing this month’s Seamwork patterns.

Meet the Wynn Tie-front Crop

Wynn is a woven tie-front crop that you can wear layered or as a chic statement piece all on its own. You'll find front and back waist darts for shaping, a deep V-neck, and slight gathers at the sleeve cap. The front of this top is lined for a clean, polished finish at the ties, and the back is finished with single-fold bias tape.

Wear Wynn layered over a cami and your favorite jeans, or over a dress to add an extra layer and a cinch at your waist.

Fabric & Fit

Fabrics to shop: Look for lightweight or medium-weight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, cotton gauze, voile, chambray, swiss dot, rayon challis, linen, rayon crepe, and silk.

Fabrics to avoid: There is slight gathering at the sleeve cap, so avoid heavyweight fabrics that will be too stiff, such as denim or canvas.

Fit: Here are some shoulder and sleeve adjustments that will help you fit this top.

Meet the Leighanne Dress

Leighanne is a dreamy empire-waist dress with a gathered skirt. Clustered darts give the lined bodice a tailored appearance, and the skirt has princess seams and is finished with a faced hem and side slits. The double straps on the front add a flirty detail, and the adjustable strap on the back ensures a comfortable fit. This dress closes with an invisible zipper and the skirt has side seam pockets.

The Leighanne member bonus variation eliminates the side slit and adds a ruffle to the hem, creating a maxi-length dress.
