You'll notice that the pattern photographs look a little different this month! Due to Covid-19, we had to cancel this photoshoot, and members of the Seamwork team volunteered to sew this month's patterns and photograph them at home while practicing social distancing.

If you want to feel stylish and comfortable all at the same time, sew up this relaxed, knit midi-dress. The Lyle dress has a boat neck and curved hem for a playful silhouette, ideal for medium-weight knits like cotton, rayon, or bamboo jersey and ITY knits.

Chelsea (in pink) is wearing a size 10 Lyle dress graded to an 8 at the waist, shortened by 3" with a full bust adjustment and the armhole shortened by 1/2". Her measurements are 38 1/2”, 29”, 40” and she is 5'2".

Haley (in red) used the hack from Pattern Hackers for a size 16 Lyle dress with 2" taken from the bust. Her measurements are 43”, 34 1/2”, 45” and she is 5'2".

The Lyle dress sews up best in medium-weight knits with at least 50% stretch, such as jersey, rayon knits, and ITY.

Bamboo and rayon jerseys will have more drape than cotton jersey. This means that the dress will have more movement and could cling to the body a bit more. Keep that in mind when you decide what kind of silhouette you would like for your Lyle dress.
