Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

    Gathered Tank Dress

    Marigold is a flowy woven tank dress designed for effortless summer dressing. With its breezy silhouette and easy fit, it’s the kind of piece you’ll reach for on warm days, whether you’re heading to the farmers market, packing for a vacation, or simply enjoying a slow afternoon at home.

    The softly curved upper bust yoke creates a flattering neckline, with gentle gathers flowing into the dress for beautiful movement and a relaxed silhouette. Adjustable straps allow you to customize the fit, while the four-panel construction creates a clean shape without side seams. Forward-set inseam pockets are tucked between the front and side panels, making them both convenient and subtly integrated into the design.

    Falling to a breezy midi length, Marigold feels equally at home in lightweight linens, playful prints, and fluid fabrics. It’s a simple dress that leaves plenty of room for personal expression.

  • Fabric & Supplies

    All-purpose polyester sewing thread, all-purpose sewing machine needle, two 5/8" (15 mm) O rings, two 5/8" (15 mm) adjustable strap sliders, one yard (1 meter) lightweight fusible interfacing, and 1 1/2 yards (1.4 meters) 1/2" (13 mm) double fold bias tape.

    Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, batiste, lawn, clip dot, seersucker, poplin, quilting cottons, shirting, double gauze, rayon challis, rayon crepe, cupro, silk, and Tencel.

  • Sizing & Fit

    Amy is wearing the Marigold dress in a size 6, from our 00-18 size range. We added 3.5" to the overall length. Her measurements are bust: 35" (88.9 cm), waist 26" (66 cm), hip 38" (96.5 cm), and she is 5' 11" (180.3 cm) tall.

    Tambrie is wearing the Marigold dress in a size 16, from our 12-30 size range. We added 2" to the overall length. Her measurements are bust: 45" (114.3 cm), waist 37 3/4" (95.9 cm), hip 48 1/2" (123.2 cm), and she is 5' 8" (172.7 cm) tall.

    00 – 30

    Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
