Two New Dresses From Seamwork

Plus two new sizes!

Posted in: Patterns • June 1, 2022

This month, we have two new dresses for you to sew. Keep reading to meet them and get all the details about fabric and fit.

By the way, starting with these patterns and moving forward, our size range goes from 00-30. They are sized 32”/24”/34” (81/61/86 cm) through 60”/53”/64” (152/134/162 cm).

Meet the Luxsy Dress

Luxsy is a knit fit-and-flare dress with two versions that each deserve a place in your wardrobe. This dress has a squared scoop neckline, princess seams at the armholes, an A-line skirt, and a lined bodice. You can wear this dress in all seasons because version 1 features 3/4-length sleeves, and version 2 is sleeveless.

This pattern is named after our Seamwork ambassador Luxsiaña! Follow Luxsy on Instagram or YouTube if you aren't already.

Fabric & Fit

Fabrics to shop: Look for medium-weight knit fabrics with good recovery and 50% 4-way stretch. Examples include cotton jersey, interlock jersey, double knit, and modal or rayon blends.

Fabrics to avoid: This dress has a lined bodice, so avoid very thick knits, because they will add bulk.

Fit: This dress is fitted with negative ease at the bodice and a flared skirt. Pay most attention to your bust and bicep measurements when picking a size.

Meet the Meg Dress

Equal parts trendy and timeless, the Meg dress is a romantic pull-over dress with an elastic waist. The scoop neckline is split, cinched with a drawstring, and finished with a facing. Elastic casings at the waist panel combined with an A-line skirt and flutter sleeves give the dress its shape. Choose between 2 or 3 lines of elastic to create the silhouette that matches your style. The member bonus adds puff sleeves to the Meg dress.

Fabric & Fit

Fabrics to shop: To best show off the silhouette, look for lightweight or medium-weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, batiste, lawn, voile, rayon challis, cupro, and Tencel.

Fabrics to avoid: Avoid stiff fabrics that don’t have good drape, such as thicker denim.

Fit: This dress is cinched at the waist, so there is ease at the bust and hip. Just double-check the finished garment measurements when picking a size.
