We created our skill levels according to the techniques required to sew each pattern, but our patterns will teach you everything so don't be afraid to sew above your skill level!

Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

A babydoll dress is as fun to sew as it is to wear. Mina puts a modern spin on this retro silhouette with two versions to match your style.

Version 1 is a relaxed top with a gathered peplum, pleated waist detail, and 3/4-length sleeves. Version 2 is a babydoll dress with a gathered skirt that hits below the mid-thigh, pleated waist detail, and short sleeves.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, batiste, lawn, voile, linen, rayon challis, cupro, and Tencel.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, and 3/4 yards (.7 meters) of 1/2" (13 mm) single fold bias tape.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Jamie is wearing Mina in curvy size 16 with a large bicep adjustment, the skirt lengthened 2.5", an SBA, and a broad shoulder adjustment. Her measurements are 41 1/2", 38", 50 1/2”, and she is 5’ 10 1/2".

00 – 26

Sizes 00-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
