Fabrics to shop: When you pick out fabric for this top, take a look at the tag on your favorite ready-to-wear button-up top. What fabric does it use? Look for similar qualities when you shop for yardage. This shirt works well in almost any lightweight or medium-weight wovens, like shirting, chambray, flannel, lawn, voile, linen, rayon challis, rayon crepe, Tencel, poplin, Tencel twill, and silk crepe.

Fabrics to avoid: Avoid heavyweight wovens, like canvas or denim, which would create a stiff, boxy silhouette. If you want a denim-look, try chambray.

Fit: This top has a relaxed fit, but it does have bust darts and a V-neckline for slight shaping. Check the finished garment measurements when selecting a size, especially if you are between sizes.
